Wakefield Park Porsche Club NSW Supersprint, 19th June 2010. Sonic evo 2nd outright.

This lap data was actually done back at a Porsche Club of NSW supersprint on 19th June 2010.

At this supersprint i came 2nd outright behind a full-kit GT3RSR Porsche, the full LeMans spec animal. The GT3RSR only pipped me by half a second and he was on full slicks whereas i was on semis so it’s safe to say it would have been very close had i been running slicks….

The track was very slippery in the morning but gripped up pretty well in the arvo. I was leading till lunch but the GT3RSR must have found some extra gusto in the afternoon probably with the extra grip it helped the slicks, had a great dice with him for a couple of sessions.

Had a ride in Liam Wild’s GT3 too, that was fun as i’d never been in a Porsche on track before. Totally different to the evo, the GT3 is just linear, gets on with it and you don’t actually think you’re going that fast but you are, in comparison the evo has a frantic feel, especially with the power delivery. The brakes on the Porkas are amazing he was still hard on the gas where i’m usually standing on the brakes trying to pull up, and the cornering ability of the Porkas with those super wide tyres is awesome.

Evos 2nd 4th and 5th on a Porsche supersprint day.

On slicks there is definitely a mid to low 1.02 in the car, i’ll be down at Wakefield this coming Saturday 4th December doing a supersprint and will be using slicks (ex Porsche cup slicks no less), so i guess we’ll see what the car is really capable of.
